QUESTIONS & ANSWERS ABOUT SEMI-PERMANENT MAKEUP
WHAT IS SEMI-PERMANENT MAKEUP?
Semi-Permanent is the modern form of micro pigmentation (permanent makeup). With today's latest technique and advanced pigments, a formulated pigment is deposited superficially into the skin with a single sterile needle. This technique is a soft layering technique done with a micro pigmentation machine, non-abrasive (unlike the old permanent makeup method), that gives the artist the control to create the most natural looking powdered brows (Powdered Brow method).
The difference between Semi-Permanent Makeup vs Permanent Makeup:
Pigments are deposited very superficially into the skin using only a single sterile needle. Pigments are deposited superficially between the epidermis layer (outermost layer) and barely into the upper part of the dermis layer (second layer), therefore the pigment will fade as your skin naturally exfoliates.
Last between 1-3 years depending on lifestyle (sun exposure, facial procedures & products)
Touch ups (annually) are recommended to maintain color vibrancy and shape definition.
Pigments are deposited deeper into the dermal layer of the skin. It is more aggressive resulting in more pain and potential scarring.
The results could be a lot more harsh, not as natural or have a powdered look.
Due to the body's chemistry (acidity) of the of the skin, there is a high chance of pigment can change colors.
Longevity; it does last a lot longer depending on skin. (usually 5-10 years)
The major difference between semi-permanent and permanent makeup is the depth of the penetration of the skin. The human skin composes of three distinct layers, with the epidermis being the outermost layer. As mentioned above, Semi-permanent makeup is where pigments are deposited in the epidermal area, barely touching the dermis. It may not last as long as permanent, however the results are very pleasing and most importantly, natural!
As we all may know, Fashion is ever changing and that is also true to makeup. Eyebrows also go through phases just like fashion. For example, thin brows were popular back in the day and now it's fashionable to have a full pair. Do clients really want to be stuck with a look they had ten years ago? Skin changes overtime and so does our fashion. =)
HOW LONG WILL IT LAST?
It always depends on factors such as skin type, lifestyle, and ultimate desired results.Usually 1-3 years depending on type of semi-permanent make up procedure (microblading/powdered brows). The average time frame before a touch up is recommended is about 1.5 years.
ARE THERE ANY FACTORS THAT WILL AFFECT MY SEMI-PERMANENT MAKEUP?
Main factors are depended on skin type & lifestyle.
An active lifestyle with swimming, sun exposure, constant sweating, and/or saunas will cause premature fading.
Oily skin type
Any chemical peels, strong facial procedures.
Although, all these factors may have an affect, it will happen over a period of time and not right away thats why it is recommended for an annual maintenance for color vibrancy and shape definition.
HOW MANY SESSIONS ARE NEEDED?
2 sessions are needed 6 weeks apart. To achieve a perfect and natural end result without compromising the skin, 2 sessions are highly recommended to keep the integrity of the skin. Our skin is very delicate and must be treated with care is very important.
